Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 31 August - Sunday 6 September

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 28 August 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M4 junction 2 Kew, Greater London: Structural repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural repairs continues this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4/A4 eastbound to Hogarth Roundabout and return.

M20 junction 2 Wrotham, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 to M20 junction 1.

M20 junction 3 (M26) to junction 1 (M25), Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26 and A20.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Guildford, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 10 exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical works will start this week. The M25 clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Tuesday 1 September for 6 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 3. The M25 anti-clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Tuesday 1 September for 6 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 11 and return, to M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise link roads to the M40 eastbound and westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 2 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17 and return.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 5 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 5 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

M40 junction 1 Denham, Buckinghamshire: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 1 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4020 and B483.

A1(M) junctions 4 Hertford to 6 Welwyn, Hertfordshire: Gantry installation work

Work to improve journeys by installing new signage gantries will start this week. The carriageway in both directions and the junction 5 Lemsford northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A6129, B197 and A1000.

A3 Esher, Surrey: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance starts this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 1 September.
The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 2 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Painshill and Tolworth junctions.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 3 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Esher and Wisley junctions. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am on Friday 4 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Esher junction.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound carriageway between the M25 junction 30 roundabout and North Stifford will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

A23 Hooley, Surrey: Gas main replacement work

Road users are advised that Southern Gas Networks roadworks to replace the gas main on the A23 continue this week. The work started on Monday 27 July and is expected to last approximately 7 weeks. There will be narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit in place for the duration of the work. Access to and from Church Lane and Star Lane will be closed throughout the project with clearly signed diversions in place. For more information about the work, please visit the SGN webpage

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Dart Charge construction work / tunnel maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 1 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The main carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 2 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 1a exit and entry slip roads.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Tuesday 1 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 2 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 3 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 4 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Saturday 5 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Sunday 6 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have 3 (of 4) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 September for 5 nights.
