The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 27 May 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junctions 5 Watford to 4 Elstree, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, A1 and A406 to M1 junction 1.

M1 junctions 5 Watford to 1 (A406), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 2 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, A1 and A406 to M1 junction 1.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M1 junction 1, A406, A41 and the A1.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M4 in both directions to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for three nights and on Sunday 5 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 16, M40 eastbound to Denham Roundabout and return, and the M25 anti-clockwise. The dedicated link road from the M4 eastbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4.30am, from Friday 3 June for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M4 junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 4 Orpington, Kent: road stud replacement

Work to maintain safety by replacing road studs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via M25 junction 5, A21, A25 and M25 clockwise.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M23 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 1 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line will continue this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 4 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway retexturing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway retexturing continues this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 14 Heathrow Terminal 5, Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 3 nights and on Sunday 5 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 20 Kings Langley, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Greater London: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical work and tunnel maintenance will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 4 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10, A406 and the M11to M25 junction 27.

M25 junction 28 (A12), Essex: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 3 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 29 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise (southbound) link road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 1 June for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 westbound and the A1306.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Friday 3 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Friday 3 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 4 June (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
