Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 28 September - Sunday 4 October

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 25 September 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M4 junctions 3 Hounslow to 1 Chiswick, Greater London: drainage work

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 28 September for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 and A312.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise carriageways will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 28 September and Thursday 1 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M23 northbound to roundabout and return southbound to join the M25 via the southbound link roads.

The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 2 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 6 and return.

M26 junction 2a Wrotham, Kent: roundabout work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out works on the roundabout continues this week. The eastbound exit slip road and westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Saturday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M20 junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: litter clearance / carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 28 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26, the A21 and the A25.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21 and A25.

M25 Cobham Motorway Services, Surrey: litter clearance / carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, at separate times between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 1 October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 9 and junction 10.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Middlesex: carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M4 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 28 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 westbound to junction 5.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 2 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 23.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 29 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 26 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 24.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 28 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 25.

M25 junction 29 Romford, Essex: expansion joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacement will start this week. The roundabout at junction 29 will have different sections closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 28 September. Relevant diversions will be clearly signed during the separate closures. Whilst the eastern section of the roundabout is closed, traffic will be diverted via the A127 eastbound to the A128 junction and return. During the western section closure, traffic will be diverted via the A127 westbound to the Upminster/Cranham junction and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: carriageway resurfacing and structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 September for 6 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A1(M) junction 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 28 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and the A1001.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound entry slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am, on Monday 28 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 29 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 30 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and West Thurrock Arterial Road.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 1 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A13 Tilbury, Essex: structure inspections

Work to maintain safety by carrying out inspections will start this week. The westbound link road to the A1089 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 1 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 (Grays) junction.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance / Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week.

The main carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 September for 4 nights and on Sunday 4 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 1a exit and entry slip roads.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 2 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 9.30pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. The closure of the QEII Bridge will divert traffic via the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnels.

  • Monday 28 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 29 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 30 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 1 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 2 October (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 3 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Sunday 4 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 September for 6 consecutive nights.
