Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 23 October 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Holloway, Greater London: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing expansion joints will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 26 October for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday night will be between 9pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M1 junction 3 London Gateway Services, Greater London: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M1 northbound to junction 5 and return.

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 28 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 29 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

M3 junction 1 Sunbury, Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The westbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 26 October and Friday 30 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A311.

The eastbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 27 October for 3 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A308 and A311.

M3 junctions 1 Sunbury to 2 (M25), Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308.

M4 junction 4 Heathrow, Middlesex: Carriageway repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs will start this week. The westbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 26 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M4 eastbound to junction 3 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 5.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Buckinghamshire: Signage work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out signage work will start this week. The eastbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 14 and return.

M11 junction 4 Woodford, Greater London: Carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs will start this week. The southbound link road to the A406 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M11 westbound link road to the Waterworks roundabout.

M25 junctions 5 Sevenoaks to 4 Bromley, Kent: Joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacements will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway - including the northbound link from the A21 to the M25 anti-clockwise – will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26, A20 and M20 to rejoin the M25 at junction 3.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 30 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 5, the A21, the A25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 26 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

M25 Cobham Services, Surrey: Litter clearance and carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter and sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, at separate times between 10pm and 5am, on Sunday 1 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 9 and junction 10.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: Carriageway surfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out concrete surfacing and fine milling will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 6 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13, the A30 and the A331 or A322.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 1 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to junction 20.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise carriageway including the entry slip roads at junctions 19, 20 and 21 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 31 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Hunton Bridge and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 26 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 24.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 23 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 25.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: Tunnel maintenance/Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance and sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Friday 30 October for 3 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return. The clockwise exit slip will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 29 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 28 October for three nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip road.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 10 roundabout.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Tunnel maintenance / Dart Charge construction work

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 30 October for 2 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 junctions 1a Swanscombe to 2 Bexleyheath, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The southbound carriageway and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 26 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A206, B255 and the A2.

A282 junctions 2 Bexleyheath to junction 1b Dartford, Kent: Carriageway lining

Work to keep road users informed will start this week. The northbound carriageway and junction 2 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 29 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road to junction 1b.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. The closure of the QEII Bridge will divert traffic via the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnels.

  • Monday 26 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 27 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 28 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 29 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 30 October (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 31 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 1 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 26 October for 5 nights and on Sunday 1 November.

A406 Brent, Greater London: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The westbound link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 26 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Brent Cross.

A406 Woodford, Greater London: Carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs will start this week. The westbound link road to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Waterworks roundabout.
