Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 25 May to Sunday 31 May

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 May 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junctions 1 Brent to 3 London Gateway Services, Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will continue this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 26 May for two nights and also on Saturday 30 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406 and A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

M1 junction 5 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will continue this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 28 May for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M4 junction 5 Slough, Berkshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the slip road will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 28 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21 and A25.

M25 junction 7 Croydon/Gatwick, Surrey: structure maintenance

Work to maintain safety continues this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to both carriageways of the M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 27 May for three nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M25 junction 13 Staines, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 29 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs to the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 25 Hertford, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeysby carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 28 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 26 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 26 Epping, Essex: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the barrier will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 28 Brentwood, Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the A12 continues this week. The clockwise dedicated link road to the A12 eastbound (for Brentwood) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 28 May for two nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be available via the junction 28 roundabout.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway between junction 30 (Thurrock) and junction 31 (Lakeside) continues this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 30 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and the link road to junction 31.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: bridge maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge maintenance will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A1(M) junction 1 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 28 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 22, A1081, A414 to join the A1(M) at junction 3.

A1(M) junctions 5 Welwyn Garden City to 6 Welwyn, Hertfordshire: communications work

Work to improve journeys by replacing traffic flow sensors will start this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 28 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1000 and B179 to rejoin A1(M) at junction 7.

A2 Darenth, Kent: Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys as part of the Dart Charge improvements will continue this week. The westbound link road to the A282 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 28 May for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the roundabout.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30 and A126 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 28 May for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and A1306.

A30 Glanty Loop, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 28 May for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 14 and return. A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys as part of the Dart Charge scheme improvements will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8:30pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 26 May for five nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place, with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. During closures of the QEII Bridge the southbound traffic will be diverted through the east tunnel, which will be closed to northbound traffic.

  • Tuesday 26 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 27 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Thursday 28 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure
  • Friday 29 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure
  • Saturday 30 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure
  • Sunday 31 May (10pm to 5.30am): southbound QEII Bridge
  • Sunday 31 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel closure
