The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 January 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 26 January for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

M1 junctions 2 Mill Hill to 1 Brent Cross, Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, from Monday 25 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1, the A41 and the A406.

M11 junction 6 (M25) Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will take place this week. The north and south bound link roads to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the northbound link road via junction 7 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the southbound link road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26.

M25 junction 3 Swanley, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 January for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M20 eastbound to junction 2 and return.

M25 junctions 3 Swanley to 4 Bromley, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 29 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 westbound, the A224 to rejoin the M25 at junction 4.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will take place this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 January for 4 nights and from Saturday 30 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 January for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 January for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20.

M25 junction 21 (M1), Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The clockwise link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 25 January for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a, the A405 westbound to M1 junction 6.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 28 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 25 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11) Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will take place this week. The clockwise link road to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise entry slip road and the link road to junction 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 26 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 westbound to Wennington, the A1306 to M25 junction 31 roundabout. Access to the Motorway Services will also be via the junction 31 roundabout.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 28 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound across the QEII Bridge to junction 1a and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: resurfacing and camera calibration

Work to improve journeys be carrying out resurfacing will start next week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 29 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound link roads to both carriageways of the M25 and the westbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 to junction 1 and return, then M25 anti-clockwise to junction 14 and return for traffic wishing to travel clockwise.

A1 junction 1 South Mimms to Rowley Lane roundabout, Borehamwood: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys be carrying out resurfacing will start next week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 27 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1081, the A1000 and the A411.

A3 Esher, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will take place this week. The southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 northbound to the Tolworth junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via Painshill.

The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 southbound to the Painshill junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via Tolworth.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will take place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Wisley.

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 28 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Esher.

A3 Wisley, Surrey: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will take place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 29 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Ockham.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford including the slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 25 January and Wednesday 27 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012. The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington including the entry slip roads from the A126 and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 28 January for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A20 Swanley, Kent: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed from the exit slip road for the M25 to the entry slip road, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Friday 29 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the South Eastern railway line will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 29 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford, Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 25 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 26 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 27 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 28 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 29 January (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 30 January (10pm to 5.30am): southbound QEII Bridge
  • Saturday 30 January (9pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel to northbound traffic
  • Sunday 31 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

There will be 3 lanes (out of 4) closed over the QEII Bridge overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 29 January.
