Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 25 April to Sunday 1 May

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 April 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junctions 1 (A406) to 4 Stanmore, Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406 and A41 to M1 junction 4.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link roads from the M25 clockwise to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am.

A clearly signed diversion for the M3 northbound will be in place via M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 1.

A clearly signed diversion for the M3 southbound will be in place via M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 3.

M11 junction 7 (M25), Essex: structural repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M11 northbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 25 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 5 (M26), Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21, A25 and A21 northbound.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out smart motorway improvements on the M3 continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M25 clockwise to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion for the M3 northbound will be in place via M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 1. A clearly signed diversion for the M3 southbound will be in place via M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 14 (A3113), Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 15, M4 junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs starts this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 20 and return.

The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 28 April for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 20 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 29 April. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: structural repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M11 northbound will closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 26 April for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 27 April for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The southbound link road from junctions 30 to 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 westbound to the Wennington Interchange, and the A1306 to M25 junction 31.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 27 April, for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and A1306.

A40 Denham, Buckinghamshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints will continue this week. The eastbound carriageway between Denham Roundabout and the B483 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4020 and the B483.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 3 nights, and from Friday 29 April for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week.

The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 25 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Tuesday 26 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 27 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Thursday 28 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 29 April (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 30 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 1 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
