The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 20 November 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 November for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday night will be between 9pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M1 junction 3 London Gateway Services, Greater London: barrier repairs

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the barrier will start this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M1 northbound to junction 5 and return.

M1 junction 4 Edgware, Greater London: carriageway repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, A406 and A41.

M3 junctions 1 Sunbury to 2 (M25), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing/electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound carriageway and entry slip road at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 23 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

The eastbound exit slip road at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 26 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Snakey Lane/Nallhead Road roundabout and return.

M4 junction 3, Greater London: carriageway repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11.30pm and 5am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 eastbound to junction 2 and return.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The north and southbound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 23 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 4 Orpington, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance starts this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5, the A21, A25 and A21.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work starts this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: carriageway repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 11.

The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 11 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 9.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 26 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 14 Heathrow Terminal 5, Middlesex: technology work

Work to maintain journeys will start this week. The spur road from Heathrow terminal 5 to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 23 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 junction 4.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the M4 east and west bound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 26 November for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14.

M25 junctions 17 Maple Cross to 16 (M40), Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over Chalfont Road will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway including junction 17 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 23 November for 2 nights and from Thursday 26 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A405, A412, A40 and M40.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 29 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 29 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road at junction 20 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 23 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return.

The clockwise carriageway including the entry slip roads at junctions 19, 20 and 21 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 28 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Hunton Bridge and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 25 November for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 23 exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 25 Enfield (A10), Hertfordshire: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Friday 27 November for 2 nights. The work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 30 (A13) to 31 Lakeside, Essex: narrow lanes installation

Work to install temporary safety barriers will continue this week. The clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road and Mar Dyke Viaduct link road to rejoin at junction 31.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside to 30 (A13), Essex: narrow lanes installation

Work to install temporary safety barriers will continue this week. The anti-clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 24 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road and Mar Dyke Viaduct link road to the M25 junction 30.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 26 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

A3 Wisley, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 southbound to Ockham interchange and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Painshill interchange.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 26 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3100 and B2215.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and West Thurrock Arterial Road.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford – including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30 – will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 24 November for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington – including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30 – will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 26 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

The clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road and Mar Dyke Viaduct link road to rejoin at junction 31.

The anti-clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 24 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road and Mar Dyke Viaduct link road to the M25 junction 30.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety on the A282 Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Friday 27 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. During the QEII Bridge closure southbound traffic will be diverted through the East Tunnel.

  • Monday 23 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 24 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 25 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 26 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 27 November (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 28 November (10pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Saturday 28 November (10pm to 5.30am): southbound QEII Bridge
  • Sunday 29 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 26 November for 2 nights.
