The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 19 August 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25), Surrey to 5 Hook, Hampshire: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 2 (including all entry slip roads in between) will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 24 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from junction 5, via the A287 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M4 junction 3 Hounslow, Greater London: vegetation clearance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out vegetation clearance starts this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return.

M4 junction 5 Langley, Berkshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge joint replacement continues this week. The carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M11 junctions 6 (M25) to 7 Harlow, Essex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 2 and the A10.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M23 southbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping continues this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 4 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M23 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: sign maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out sign maintenance will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10 and return. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M3 northbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13 (on Monday and Tuesday), and via the A287 and A30 to M25 junction 13 (on Wednesday and Thursday).

M25 junction 15 (M4), Berkshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M4 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M40 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

M25 junction 17 Chorleywood, Buckinghamshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 16, M40 to junction 1 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney: Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 23 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a and return. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 23 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a and return.

M25 junction 23 (A1M), Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure over the A1(M) starts this week. The southern section of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1(M) to Stirling Corner and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: safety barrier repair / sign maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out safety barrier repairs will start this week. The dedicated link roads from the M25 in both directions to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion for clockwise traffic heading northbound on the M11 will be in place via M25 junction 28, A12 northbound to junction 15, A414 to M11.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place for clockwise traffic heading southbound on the M11 via M25 junction 28, return to M25 junction 25, A10 southbound and A406 to M11.

A clearly signed diversion for anti-clockwise traffic heading northbound on the M11 will be in place via M25 junction 25, A10 northbound and A414 to M11.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place for anti-clockwise traffic heading southbound on the M11 via M25 junction 25, A10 southbound and the A406 to the M11.

The main carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M11 northbound to junction 7 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: sign maintenance / structural inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out sign maintenance and structural inspections will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return. The northern half of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 24 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 29 (A127) to 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128 and A13.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, A128 and A127 to M25 junction 29.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise (southbound) carriageway between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 30 and 31.

A2 (M25), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 23 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Bean Interchange and return. The dedicated link road from the A2 westbound to the M25 (A282) anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 2 roundabout, A2 eastbound, B255 and A206 to A282 junction 1a.

A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Black Prince Interchange and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13 narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and junction 30.

The westbound A13 entry slip road from M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 31 and the A1306 to Wennington.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the link road to junction 30.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 24 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

A23 London Road North, Merstham, Surrey: gas upgrade

Work by SGN to maintain safety by carrying out gas network upgrades continues this week. One lane (of two) will be closed northbound adjacent to Glebe Road, 24 hours a day, until early-September. A 40mph temporary speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week.

The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 22 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 23 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 24 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 25 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel

A282 junctions 2 (A2) to junction 1a, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2, B255 and A206 to junction 1a.
