The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 18 September 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M4 junction 2 Staines, Greater London: structure strengthening work

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out structure strengthening continues this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September 5 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and the A312.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The north and south bound link roads to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 23 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the southbound link road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the northbound link road via the M11 junction 7.

The north and south bound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 24 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the southbound link road via the M25 clockwise to junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the northbound link road via the M11 junction 7.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 6 and return.

M26 junction 2a Wrotham, Kent: roundabout work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out works on the roundabout continues this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 26 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21 and A25.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 22 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 8 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 5, the A21 and the A25.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise link roads to the M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Guildford, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 28.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise link roads to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 22 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28.

M25 junction 28 Brentwood, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 22 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 29.

M25 junction 29 Romford, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 23 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 clockwise to junction 30 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 28.

The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 24 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 30.

M25 junction 29 Romford, Essex: expansion joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacement will start this week. The roundabout at junction 29 will have different sections closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights and also on Sunday 27 September. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. Relevant diversions will be clearly signed during the separate closures. Whilst the eastern section of the roundabout is closed, traffic will be diverted via the A127 eastbound to the A128 junction and return. During the western section closure, traffic will be diverted via the A127 westbound to the Upminster/Cranham junction and return.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 25 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1a.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: carriageway resurfacing and structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between the M25 junction 30 and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

A13 Tilbury, Essex: horticulture work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticulture works will continue this week. The westbound link road to the A1089 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 24 September for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 (Grays) junction.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance/Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 25 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 23 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. The closure of the QEII Bridge will divert traffic via the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnels.

  • Monday 21 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 22 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 23 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 24 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 25 September (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 26 September (10pm to 5.30am): southbound QEII Bridge closure
  • Saturday 26 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel (to enable southbound diversion)
  • Sunday 27 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have 3 (of 4) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 September for 5 consecutive nights.

A1089 Tilbury, Essex: Horticulture work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticulture works will continue this week. The northbound link road to the A13 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 eastbound to the A128 junction and return.
