The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 June 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 23 June for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, A406 and M1 junction 1.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Saturday 25 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M1 junction 1, A406, A41 and the A1.

M1 junctions 4 Edgware to 1 (A406), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 20 June for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, A1 and A406 to M1 junction 1.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junction 2 (M25) and junction 3 (Lightwater) will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 22 June for 3 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30, A322 to M3 junction 3.

The northbound carriageway between junction 3 (Lightwater) and junction 2 (M25) will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and the A30 to M25 junction 13.

M4 junctions 3 (A312) to 2 (Kew), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 20 June for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A312 and the A4.

M4 junction 3 (A312), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed in between the slip roads overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 24 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: structural maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural maintenance will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M11 northbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 20 June for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M11 junction 7 and return.

M25 junction 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, from Friday 24 June for 3 nights. Work on Saturday and Sunday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1a and return.

The clockwise carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 21 June for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 Cobham Services, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 22 June for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 10 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 21 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 9 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 11 and return.

The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 11 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 9 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 25 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M25 in both directions to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 22 June for 3 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30, A322 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 20 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 20 June for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am on Tuesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 21 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 23 June for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10 and A121 to M25 junction 26.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: structural maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural maintenance will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 21 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 26 and return.

A1(M) junction 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 20 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3, the A1001 and return.

A2 (M25), Kent: structural inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural inspection will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A2 westbound to M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 20 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 2 roundabout.

A3 (M25), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 20 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the Ockham junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Painshill junction and return.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 23 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Burpham junction and return.

A10 Enfield, Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The northbound carriageway between M25 junction 25 and Great Eastern Road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 21 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 26 and the A121 to the A10.

The southbound carriageway between Great Eastern Road and M25 junction 25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 23 June for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10, A121, A1010 and A1055.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 20 June, Wednesday 22 June and Friday 24 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 20 June for 5 nights. Work on Thursday will start at 23.59pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306. The eastbound A13 carriageway between M25 junction 30 and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 21 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road to junction 31, A1306, A1012 to North Stifford.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 23.59pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 23 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the link road to junction 30.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 24 June for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 20 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 21 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 22 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 23 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 24 June (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 25 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel

A406 (M11), Greater London: structural inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out a structural inspection will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A406 westbound to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, from Friday 24 June for 2 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Waterworks Corner and return.
