Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 2 November - Sunday 8 November

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 30 October 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing expansion joints will continue this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday night will be between 9pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M3 junction 1 Sunbury, Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 2 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M3 junction 2, M25 junction 11 and return.

The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 4 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A316.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Greater London: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 5 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 14 and return.

M11 junction 5 (M25) Chigwell, Essex: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26 and return.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7.

The northbound and southbound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 5 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 28 and return.

M20 junction 1 Swanley, Kent: Carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs will start this week. The westbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M20/A20 and the A223.

The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 5 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 2, returning via the dedicated link road onto the M20.

M23 Hooley, Surrey: Carriageway sweeping/carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 6 and return.

The northbound link roads to both directions of the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 3 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Coulsdon Roundabout.

M25 junctions 4 Orpington to 5 (A21), Kent: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 5 nights and on Sunday 8 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 spur, A224, A25 and A21.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will continue this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 3 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 5, the A21, the A25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 8.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise link road to both directions of the M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: Signage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out signage maintenance will start this week. The clockwise link roads to both directions of the M40 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Sunday 8 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 18 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 16 and M40 eastbound to junction 1.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise carriageway including the entry slip roads at junctions 19, 20 and 21 will be closed overnight, between 9am and 9am, on Saturday 7 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Hunton Bridge and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 3 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 21a and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 3 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 23 and return.

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 28 Brentwood, Essex: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 5 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 7 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A1(M) junctions 4 Hatfield to 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: Carriageway surveying

Works to maintain journey quality by carrying out carriageway surveying will start this week. The southbound carriageway and junction 4 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 2 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001 to junction 2.

A2 Dartford Heath (A2018), Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed between the exit and entry slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

A2 Darenth, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2018, B2174, A282 junction 1b and the link road to the A2.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Saturday 7 November for 3 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 10 roundabout and return.

A13 Thurrock, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and M25 junction 31 to M25 junction 30.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 5 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

The clockwise M25 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 4 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 29, A127, A128 and the A13.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Tunnel maintenance / Dart Charge construction work

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 6 November for 2 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 5 and Sunday 8 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

A282 junctions 1a Swanscombe to 2 Bexleyheath, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will continue this week. The southbound carriageway and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 5 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A206, B255 and the A2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. The closure of the QEII Bridge will divert traffic via the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnels.

  • Monday 2 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 3 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 4 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 5 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 6 November (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 7 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 8 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 2 November for 7 nights.

A405 Leavesden Green, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound exit slip road to Bucknalls Lane will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 21a.
