The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 15 January 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

M1 junction 6 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A405 and the A414 to M1 junction 8.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 19 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 22 and return.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4 Camberley, Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to upgrade the M3 to a smart motorway. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 13, the A30 and the A331 to join the M3 at junction 4.

M4 junction 1 Chiswick to junction 3 Hounslow: drainage maintenance

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will start this week. The westbound carriageway including the slip roads at junction 1 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 18 January for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 to junction 3.

M25 junction 3 Swanley, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M20 eastbound to junction 2 and return.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 4 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: signage work

Work to keep road users informed will start this week. The anti-clockwise link road to the M23 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to upgrade the M3 to a smart motorway. The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the clockwise link road via junction 13, the A30 and the A325 to join the M3 at junction 4. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the anti-clockwise link road via junction 11, returning to junction 13, the A30 and the A331 to join the M3 at junction 4.

M25 junction 14 Heathrow (T4, 5, Cargo), Middlesex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 18 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 20 Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 21 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 21 (M1), Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The anti-clockwise link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20.

The clockwise link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 21 January for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22.

M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 19 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping and resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping and resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 24.

The anti-clockwise carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 20 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 21 January for 2 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 19 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 23 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 25.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Enfield, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 21 January for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road and the Mardyke viaduct to the junction 31 entry slip road.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford including the slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington including the entry slip roads from the A126 and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 January for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A21 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 4 and return.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 22 January for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the South Eastern railway line will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Friday 22 January for 2 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 18 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 19 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 20 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 21 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 22 January (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 23 January (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 24 January (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
