The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 October 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 1 (Sunbury) to 2 (M25), Surrey: bridge joint replacement/resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement and resurfacing on the structure that carries the M3 over the River Thames continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 17 October for 5 nights and on Sunday 23 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The M3 junction 2 southbound link road to M25 junction 12 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am on Monday 17 October for four nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 21 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place: M3 junction 2 southbound to M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 to M25 clockwise.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4a including junctions 3 and 4 entry slips and junctions 4 and 4a exit slips will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am on Monday 17 October for four nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 21 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place: A clearly signed diversion will be in place: M3 junction 3 to A322 to A30 to A327 to M3 junction 4a.

The northbound carriageway between junction 4a and 3 including junction 4a entry slip, junction 4 entry and exit slips and junction 3 exit slip will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am on Monday 17 October for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via: M3 northbound junction 4a to A327 to A30 to A322 to M3 junction 3.

The northbound carriageway between junction 4 and 3 including junction 4 entry slip and junction 3 exit slip will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am on Wednesday 19 October for two nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 21 October and Saturday 22 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via: M3 northbound junction 4 to A331 to A30 to A322 to M3 junction 3.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 including junctions 3 entry slip and junctions 4 exit slip will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am on Saturday 22 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place: M3 junction 3 to A322 to A30 to A331 to M3 junction 4.

M25 junction 8 Reigate, Surrey: road marking

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road marking will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 17 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 22 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to junction 10.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage surveys will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M4 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 17 October for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 17 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 17 October and from Thursday 20 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via M25 junction 16, M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: road marking

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road marking will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 19 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 21a and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 17 October. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junctions 25 Enfield to 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 17 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10 and the A121.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M11 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 17 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: bridge inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out a bridge inspection will start this week. The southern half of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 18 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

M25 junctions 29 (A127) to 30 (A13), Essex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 17 October and from Thursday 20 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128 and A13.

M25 junctions 30 (Thurrock) to 31 (Lakeside), Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

A temporary road layout is in use on the northbound link road between junctions 31 and 30. The layout will remain in place 24/7 to enable the construction of a retaining wall. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys and allow additional time.

The anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 18 October for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road between junctions 31 and 30.

The anti-clockwise (northbound) link road from junction 31 to junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 17 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 to the Wennington Interchange and A13 eastbound to M25 junction 30.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Tuesday 18 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. The eastbound A13 between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 19 October for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31, A1306 and A1012.

The westbound A13 between North Stifford (A1012) and the Wennington Interchange will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 17 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306 and M25 junction 31 and A1306.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 17 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 18 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 19 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 20 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 21 October (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 22 October (8.30pm to 6am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 23 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed, overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 17 October for 2 nights.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 21 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A1089 Grays, Essex: road marking

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road marking will start this week. The northbound entry slip road from the A126 Marshfoot Way Roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 17 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A126 and Calcutta Road to Dock Road Roundabout.
