The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 8 July 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M1 junction 1, the A406, A41 and the A1.

M3 junction 2 (M25), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The slip road from the M3 junction 2 northbound to M25 junction 12 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

M4 junction 5 Colnbrook, Berkshire: drainage work

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 13 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 14 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 13 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 26 and return.

The northbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 13 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M11 junction 7 and return.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway sweeping / maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M23 southbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 11 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 6 and return.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out maintenance will start this week. The dedicated link roads from the M23 southbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 12 July for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M23 junction 9 and return.

M25 junctions 4 Orpington to 3 Swanley, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway (including the junction 4 entry slip road) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Spur Road, A224 and A20 to M25 junction 3.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road at junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 14 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Spur Road, A224, A20 eastbound to M25 junction 3.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Kent: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 12 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link roads from the M25 clockwise to the M23 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 11 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 16 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3) Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13, the A30 and A322.

M25 junction 13 Staines, Surrey: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 14 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 14 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 15 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20 and the A41 Hunton Bridge.

M25 junction 20 Kings Langley, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 14 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 18 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 21a and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 12 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 23 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 21a and return.

The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 13 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 21a and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 12 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the QEII Bridge to junction 1a and return.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 14 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 eastbound, A128 and A127 to M25 junction 29.

M25 junction 31 Thurrock, Essex: maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out maintenance will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 16 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Mar Dyke viaduct to junction 30.

A1(M) junction 4 Hertford, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 11 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 2 nights and from Thursday 14 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and M25 junction 30 and 31.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 13 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012. The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306.

A2 Darenth, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A2 westbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 13 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 2 roundabout.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 14 July and Sunday 17 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 and return.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: resurfacing / electrical work / maintenance Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 11 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 14 July and Sunday 17 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Dartford Tunnel to junction 31 and return.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 15 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A30 junction 13 Staines, Surrey: electrical repair and barrier repair

Work to improve journeys and safety by carrying out electrical and barrier repairs will start this week. The dedicated slip road from the A30 to Glanty Loop will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 14 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B376 and A308 to rejoin at the A30 Runnymeade roundabout.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 11 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 12 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 13 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 14 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 15 July (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 16 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Sunday 17 July (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
