The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 January 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: electrical work / bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work and bridge joint replacement over the Grand Union Canal continues this week.

The southbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 4 February for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 22 and return.

The southbound link road to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 7 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M3 junctions 1 to 2, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 7 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 3.

M3 junctions 3 (A322) to 2 (M25), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to upgrade the M3 to a smart motorway. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 to A30 to M25 junction 13 to M3 junction 2.

M25 junction 3 Swanley, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M20 eastbound to junction 2 and return.

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 5 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 and return.

M25 junctions 3 Swanley to 4 Bromley, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway and entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 3 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 and A224 to rejoin the M25 at junction 4.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will take place this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 1 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26, A21 southbound and A25 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 4 nights and from Saturday 6 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 12 (M3) Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 7 nights. A clearly signed diversion for the clockwise link road will be in place via junction 13 and the A30, rejoining the M3 at junction 3. A clearly signed diversion for anti-clockwise link road will be in place via junction 11 and junction 13 and the A30, rejoining the M3 at junction 3.

M25 junction 21a, St. Albans, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 1 February for 6 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 20 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junctions 21a St Albans to 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 6 February. A clearly signed diversion for traffic wishing to continue on the M25 will be in place via the A405 and A41 to M25 junction 19. A clearly signed diversion for traffic wishing to access the M1 northbound will be in place via the A405 northbound and A414 to M1 junction 8.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 3 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 5 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield, Greater London: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 2 February. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 24 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 1 February. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11) Essex: signage work

Work to keep road users informed will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 3 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to improve congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads.

The anti-clockwise entry slip will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, A128 and A127 to the M25 at junction 29.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical works will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 3 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: safety barrier installation

Work to improve safety will start this week. The northbound link road to junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 4 February for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 to Wennington then A13 eastbound to M25 junction 30.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 4 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3100, A3 northbound and the B2215.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, to M25 junction 31.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington including the entry slip roads from the A126 and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 3 February for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 5 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the South Eastern railway line will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 6 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 1 February (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 2 February (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 3 February (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 4 February (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 5 February (9pm to 6am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 6 February (9pm to 6am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 7 February (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

A406 Woodford, Greater London: horticultural work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticultural work will start this week. The westbound link road to the M11 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 3 February for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406 to Waterworks roundabout and return.

The eastbound link road to the M11 will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 5 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Redbridge roundabout and return.
