Planned M1 and A1(M) roadworks in Hertfordshire and Greater London in May

Road users are advised of planned resurfacing work on sections of the M1 and A1(M) in Hertfordshire.

The M1 works are as follows:

The southbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 6 will be closed overnight from Tuesday 5 May until Thursday 7 May. A clearly signed diversion for road users wishing to access the junction 6 southbound entry slip road will be in place via the A405 and A41 to join the M1 at junction 5. A clearly signed diversion for road users wishing to exit the junction 6 southbound will be in place via junction 5.

The northbound carriageway between junction 2 and junction 3 will be closed each night, from Friday 8 May until Tuesday 19 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406 and A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

The northbound exit slip road at junction 6 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 19 May. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 20 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M1 northbound.

The northbound carriageway between junction1 and junction 4 will be closed overnight, Monday to Friday, from Monday 18 May until Friday 22 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406, A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

The northbound carriageway between junction 1 and junction 5 will be closed overnight, from Tuesday 26 May until Thursday 28 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406, A41 to join at M1 at junction 5.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 28 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 4, the A41, Spur Road roundabout and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 6.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 5 will be closed overnight, Monday to Friday, from Thursday 28 May until Tuesday 8 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 and A405 to join the M1 at junction 6.

The southbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise at junction 6a will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 2 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5, and the A41 to join the M25 at junction 20.

The A1(M) works are as follows:

The northbound entry slip road at junction 5 will be closed overnight from Monday 27 April until Friday 1 May and also on Monday 4 May. A clearly signed diversion for road users wishing to access the northbound A1(M) at junction 5 will be in place via the B197 to join the A1(M) northbound at junction 6.

The northbound carriageway between junction 4 and junction 6 will be closed overnight, from Monday 27 April until Thursday 30 April, and Tuesday 5 May until Thursday 7 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A6129, B197 to join the A1(M) at junction 6.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 6 will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 4am, on Wednesday 29 April.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 1 will be closed overnight, Monday to Friday only, between Friday 1 May and Wednesday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 of the M25, the A1081 and A414 to join the A1(M) at junction 3.

All work will be carried out between 10pm and 5.30am on Mondays to Thursdays, between 11pm and 6am on Fridays, between 10pm and 6am on Saturdays and between 10.30pm and 5.30am on Sundays.

Drivers using these sections of the M1 and A1(M) are advised to plan their journeys and allow some extra time to reach their destinations.

All details are correct as of Monday 27 April but may be changed at short notice due to weather conditions or emergency roadworks.
