Overnight resurfacing to improve journeys on the M6 between junctions 2 and 3 near Coventry will take continue tonight, and resume in the new year.
To enable it to be carried out safely the work will require carriageway closures. Tonight’s work will be on the southbound carriageway only. There will then be no work until Tuesday 6 January when the southbound carriageway will be closed for four nights. Work will then move to the northbound carriageway which will be closed overnight only until the morning of Wednesday 14 January, weather permitting.
The carriageway closures will be between junctions 2 and 3, from 10pm to 6am each night.
The following diversions will be in place:
- M6 through traffic will leave the M6 at junction 2 and take the A46, A45 and A446 to rejoin the motorway at junction 4, or vice versa.
- M42 north and southbound traffic wanting to join the M6 southbound will continue on the M42 to junction 6 and take the A45 and A46 to M6 junction 2.
- M6 Toll southbound traffic wanting to join the M6 southbound should join the M42 southbound to junction 6 and follow the same diversion.
Previously planned overnight resurfacing had to be postponed due to heavy rain and strong winds.
