Overnight closures on the A45/A46 Tollbar End scheme near Coventry start tomorrow

Overnight road closures will take place over the coming weeks as part of the A45/A46 Tollbar End improvement project near Coventry.

Project manager Paul Nagra said:

We need to close the A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass between Binley Woods roundabout and Tollbar roundabout overnight on various dates over the next few weeks so we can resurface and raise the road level, as well as paint temporary markings.

We need to close this stretch of the A46 to ensure the safety of the workforce and drivers who use the road while the work is carried out. We do try to keep disruption to a minimum, but apologise in advance for any caused.

The A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass will be closed southbound between the Binley Woods roundabout and Tollbar roundabout on the following dates, starting tomorrow:

  • from 6pm on Saturday 4 July to 9am on Sunday 5 July
  • from 6pm on Sunday 5 July to 6am on Monday 6 July
  • from 8pm on Monday 6 July to 6am on Tuesday 7 July
  • from 8pm on Tuesday 7 July to 6am on Wednesday 8 July
  • from 8pm on Wednesday 8 July to 6am on Thursday 9 July
  • from 8pm on Thursday 9 July to 6am on Friday 10 July
  • from 8pm on Friday 10 July to 9am on Saturday 11 July
  • from 6pm on Saturday 11 July to 9am on Sunday 12 July
  • from 6pm on Sunday 12 July to 6am on Monday 13 July

Diversions will be clearly signed and will divert motorists off the A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass southbound onto the A428 Binley Road. Drivers should continue along the A428 until the junction with the A4082 Allard Way, and then turn left. The diversion then takes drivers to London Road roundabout, where they should turn left on to the B4110 leading to Tollbar roundabout, where the diversion ends.

The A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass will be closed northbound from Tollbar roundabout to Binley Woods roundabout on the following dates:

  • from 8pm on Friday 10 July to 9am on Saturday 11 July
  • from 6pm on Saturday 11 July to 9am on Sunday 12 July
  • from 6pm on Sunday 12 July to 6am on Monday 13 July
  • from 8pm on Monday 13 July to 6am on Tuesday 14 July
  • from 8pm on Tuesday 14 July to 6am on Wednesday 15 July
  • from 8pm on Wednesday 15 July to 6am on Thursday 16 July
  • from 8pm on Thursday 16 July to 6am on Friday 17 July
  • from 8pm on Friday 17 July to 9am on Saturday 18 July
  • from 6pm on Saturday 18 July to 9am on Sunday 19 July
  • from 6pm on Sunday 19 July to 6am on Monday 20 July

During the northbound closures, traffic will be diverted off the Tollbar roundabout on to the B4110 London Road. At the London Road roundabout, motorists should turn right on to the A4082 Allard Way and then right on to the A428 Binley Road leading to Binley Woods roundabout, where the diversion ends.
