Overnight closures for westbound A696 resurfacing

Drivers are advised there will be overnight resurfacing work on the A696 between Kenton Bar and Prestwick Roundabout, Newcastle, starting next week.

A full closure of the westbound carriageway is required to enable resurfacing of 3 miles (4.9km) of the westbound A696. Work will take place between Monday 13 April and Friday 15 May, 8pm to 6am.

The A696 westbound carriageway will be closed between Kenton Bar Interchange and Newcastle Airport. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the B6918 Ponteland Road and drivers heading to the airport are advised to leave extra time for their journeys

There will also be a lane closure on the A696 westbound carriageway between Newcastle Airport and Prestwick Roundabout. Traffic signals will be in operation and there will be reduced speed limits through the roadworks.
