The closures will be required to resurface 3 miles (5 km) of the northbound A19 Ryhope Spur junction between the A1018 and A690. Work will take place over three weeks from Sunday 26 April between 8pm to 6am (Sunday to Friday). The work is planned to be completed by Sunday 17 May.

Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures and a day-time 50mph speed limit will be in operation as traffic will be running on a temporary road surface.

Whilst the resurfacing is taking place drivers on the A19 northbound should follow the signed diversion via the A1018, B1285 Stockton Road, B1404 Seaton Lane and A690 Durham Road to re-join the A19 at the A19/A690 Herrington interchange.
