Contractors for Highways England have begun work to resurface the road, carry out drainage repairs and paint new road markings.

Overnight closures are planned for the duration of the work. The road will be closed in both directions between 8pm and 6am every night for 3 weeks, although the completion date is subject to suitable weather conditions.

Highways England project manager, Peter Gee said:

This work is part of our regular commitment to repair our existing road network, which is just as important to road users as strategic improvements. Crews will work at night to ensure minimum disruption, and clearly-signed diversions will be in place.
