The closures - which will be a mix of both lane and full closures on the roundabout, A6 and A453 - will take place every night between 8pm and 6am.

Robin Jackson, Highways England assistant project manager, said:

We have found technical issues with some sections of the road surface and, as a precautionary measure, we have decided to resurface the roundabout in full to ensure safe and reliable journeys for the long term.

We apologise for any disruption this causes, and we will be carrying out the work overnight to minimise the impact on road users.

Drivers travelling to and from East Midlands Airport are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time. Diversion routes will be clearly signed.

Full details on the closures can be found on the scheme page.
