Overnight bridge work on M42 near Coleshill

Overnight work to replace expansion joints on a link road bridge at junction 7a near Coleshill starts on Thursday 19 June for two nights.

The joints allow structures to expand and contract with seasonal changes in temperature.

The work involves a full overnight closure of the M42 northbound to M6 southbound link road from 7pm to 6am.

Traffic will be diverted via the M42 to junction 9 where it can turn around and return on the southbound carriageway.

Highways Agency project manager Colin Jackson said:

This work will maintain safe and reliable journeys on this link road. To carry it out safely and efficiently we need to close the carriageway. We advise road users affected by the diversions to allow extra time for their journeys.
