The first of 2 overnight closures for essential carriageway repairs along the A590 east of Ulverston in Cumbria will take place on Sunday (9 October) – with the second overnight closure on Sunday 30 October.

As well as patching and repairing potholes, crews will be taking the opportunity during the 8pm to 5am closures to clean out gullies and manage vegetation.

During the overnight work, between Booths roundabout at Ulverston and Greenodd roundabout, the A590 will be closed in both directions with diversions for through traffic.

Drivers heading westbound for Barrow will need to leave the A590 at Greenodd roundabout, using the A5092 to Grizebeck and then the A595 to rejoin the A590 at Dalton-in-Furness. Drivers heading eastbound towards the M6 will need to use the A595 from Dalton up to Grizebeck and then the A5092, rejoining the A590 at Greenodd roundabout.

Drivers are being reminded that elsewhere in Cumbria, the eastbound A66 Brough bypass will be closed overnight on Thursday night and Friday night (6 and 7 October). This is for carriageway wear and tear repairs. The closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am on both nights with drivers sent on a short diversion through Brough, rejoining the A66 at Augill junction.
