Online publication of real-time energy data for Defra’s headquarters buildings

Real-time data on Defra’s energy usage at our London headquarters can now be viewed online to show exactly how much energy we are using.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The online tool captures and displays real-time energy information with updates every five seconds providing an overview of the energy consumption, cost and carbon dioxide emissions.

This approach ensures that Defra is transparent about the amount and cost of energy use within the department. The valuable energy performance data generated will help to raise awareness amongst Defra staff and provides a further incentive to reduce our energy use.

All government departments have committed to publishing their real-time energy usage in support of the Prime Minister’s pledge for this to be the greenest government ever.

The energy use monitor can be found at: archive.defra.gov.uk/corporate/environment/.
