Number 10 Press Briefing - Morning For 10 October 2011

From the Prime Minister's spokesperson on: Defence Secretary Liam Fox and Energy Secretary Chris Huhne.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Defence Secretary Liam Fox

Asked in great detail about the terms of reference of the investigation into allegations about whether the Defence Secretary Liam Fox had broken the Ministerial Code and about the progress of this investigation, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said the Prime Minister had asked for an interim report from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence to be delivered today in advance of the full report later this month and that it was important to establish the facts before making a judgement.

Asked for the Prime Minister’s views about the allegations and the investigation the PMS said the Prime Minister thought Liam Fox had done an excellent job as Defence Secretary and he felt it was important that the full facts were established before we drew any conclusions.

Energy Secretary Chris Huhne

Asked if the Energy Secretary Chris Huhne had broken the Ministerial Code by briefing against colleagues the PMS said the Energy Secretary had answered a number of questions on that subject and he had nothing to add.
