Northern Ireland Office moves into the heart of Whitehall

NIO London office relocates to new premises at 1 Horse Guards Road, London

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

After more than 15 years sharing the Security Service’s building at 11 Millbank, the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) has relocated its London headquarters.

Our new premises will see the NIO’s London-based staff working alongside HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office at 1 Horse Guards Road, London, SW1A 2HQ. The move back to the very centre of government will help the NIO champion Northern Ireland’s interests across Whitehall and re-focus its strategy around rebalancing the regional economy, promoting growth and encouraging inward investment.

It will also help the department to meet the efficiency savings required by our Spending Review settlement.

The department’s Northern Ireland staff will continue to operate out of Stormont House.
