Next-generation CCTV: apply for contracts
Organisations can apply for a share of up to £150,000 for an improved, flexible, public space CCTV system for South Ayrshire.
South Ayrshire Council has up to £150,000 to invest in projects that look at ways of making its future CCTV systems more flexible and better able to provide safety and security for its community.
The council wants to investigate a system that is self-powered, suitable for fixing simply and easily to many different surfaces and meets existing and new data protection regulations.
Funding for the competition is under the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI).
Systems must be simple and flexible
Projects are expected to develop ideas for a system that:
- does not rely on a power supply or power replacement
- uses several recognised transmission methods such as internet, cloud, wireless or network, and can transmit HD images
- can be swiftly and simply fixed to a variety of surfaces, ideally by a single person
- is robust and at low risk of vandalism
- has pan-tilt zoom
- meets data protection regulations
Successful projects could go on to share up to £300,000 to develop a prototype in a second phase.
Competition information
- the competition opens on 8 January 2018, and the deadline for registration is at midday on 14 March 2018
- it is open to any organisation that can demonstrate a route to market for its idea
- we expect phase 1 contracts to be worth up to £30,000 and last up to 6 months
- successful projects will attract 100% funded development contracts
- a briefing event will be held on 2 February 2018
