New way to apply to CICA

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority's new application service for victims of violent crime is complete.

The simplified way to apply for compensation through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) is now available to all users. We have also integrated a ‘save and return later’ function for incomplete applications.

The application form removes as many potential triggers for re-traumatisation as possible while ensuring that we have enough information to process applications. The service is the result of extensive user research and usability testing involving victims of violent crime, frontline victim support services and other stakeholders.

We give guidance in the online form to help applicants complete their application. If you need more help, our dedicated Customer Support Team can give specialist assistance during the lifecycle of the application process. This includes completing the application with you on the phone if you need this. To get help applying, please contact us.

With this new service fully operational, any unfinished application forms on our old application service will be deleted if they are not submitted before 5pm on 15 September 2023.
