Mosque Bombing in Faryab Province in Afghanistan

Foreign Office Minister Baroness Warsi has condemned the attack on worshippers attending prayers during Eid al-Adha in Maimana city, Faryab Province.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Baroness Warsi said:

“I was shocked and saddened to hear of the appalling suicide bombing in Maimana city, Faryab Province in Afghanistan earlier today. To attack worshippers attending prayers during Eid al-Adha is despicable and shows a complete disregard for religion and for the safety and security of the Afghan people. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families at what should be a time of celebration. There is no room for those who seek to undermine peaceful and religious celebrations on what should be a day of joy and happiness. The British government continues to work closely with the Afghan government and its people to secure a stable and prosperous state where future Eids can be observed peacefully.”
