Magnox laptops inspire the next generation

Former business laptops are powering up the next generation, thanks to donations of re-useable IT kit to state classrooms across the UK.

Our engagement with the Business2Schools charity resulted in 97 securely wiped laptops being donated with a substantial proportion of them going to benefit over 500 children at Southway Primary School in Bognor Regis.  The school is now on track to achieve some of the best end of key stage two data and pupil’s engagement rates with the learning software have jumped from 19% to 65% in one year.

Louise Dyche, Magnox asset disposal manager, commented: “This is a remarkable success for Magnox in terms of our own sustainability goals and the collaboration between the asset management and IT teams. We identified re-useable laptops and made them compliant for re-use to support Business 2 Schools in their mission to ensure all children have the opportunity to learn using technology.”

Lindsey Parslow, chief executive Business2Schools, added: ”We want to say a massive thank you for thinking of us by donating your laptops to our charity. Everything donated comes with the provenance and aspirational value of the talented people that have worked in those businesses. It is so inspiring for pupils and teachers.

The most tangible way to teach children about the circular economy is for them to grow up in sustainable schools, built around the circular economy that protect their planet for the future; in classrooms that are put together from items businesses no longer need.”
