M55 work to reduce flood risk
Safer and more reliable journeys for drivers along the M55 near Blackpool.

Drivers are to get safer and more reliable journeys from a £125,000 Highways England project to repair drainage along the M55 near Blackpool in Lancashire.
Lane 1 of the eastbound carriageway will be closed until the end of June as work takes place to repair the drainage system and reduce the potential of flooding from nearby fields.
A 50 mph speed limit will also be in place between junctions 3 and 1 of the eastbound carriageway.
A full overnight carriageway closure will be needed at the end of the project to allow the traffic management cones and barriers to be removed. A signed diversion along local roads will be in place during the overnight closure.
Highways England project manager Peter Gee said:
These wear and tear repairs will ensure the motorway drainage will be able to cope better with water running off adjacent fields and reduce the potential for carriageway flooding.
