Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire: David Laing

David Laing is appointed as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Mr David Laing to succeed Lady Juliet Townsend on her retirement on 16 June 2014 as Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire.

David Laing

David Laing is an architect and landowner, who has become immersed in the life of the County since moving to Northamptonshire 10 years ago.

He has served as High Sheriff and is involved with many local organisations as Chairman or President, including the Community Foundation, the Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs, the Enterprise Partnership and Adrenaline Alley, the largest skate park in Europe.

He is a keen sportsman, having played hockey at Regional level, and an historic motor racing and rally driver.

He is also interested in the arts and music and is Pro Chancellor of the University of Northampton.

David lives with his wife Mary in Grafton Underwood, near Kettering. They have 4 sons and a daughter.
