Knighthoods and DBEs conferred: 18 November 2016

The Queen has approved Knighthoods for Peter Francis, Nicholas Lavender and Stephen Morris, and DBEs for Nerys Jefford and Finola O’Farrell.

The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Knighthood be conferred upon Mr Peter Nicholas Francis QC, Mr Nicholas Lavender, Esquire QC and Mr Stephen Nathan Morris, Esquire QC, and that the honour of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) be conferred upon Miss Nerys Angharad Jefford QC, and Miss Finola Mary O’Farrell QC, on their appointment as Justices of the High Court.

Background

Peter Nicholas Francis QC was called to the Bar (M) in 1981 and took Silk in 2002. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1999, as a Recorder in 2000 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2011.

Nicholas Lavender was called to the Bar (I) in 1989 and took Silk in 2008. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2010 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2013.

Stephen Nathan Morris was called to the Bar (L) in 1981 and took Silk in 2002. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1998, as a Recorder in 2000 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2004.

Nerys Angharad Jefford was called to the Bar (G) in 1986 and took Silk in 2008. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2007.

Finola Mary O’Farrell was called to the Bar (I) in 1983 and took Silk in 2002. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2007.
