Israeli settlements: "extremely disappointing and unhelpful"

Foreign Secretary William Hague commented after the announcement yesterday that a further 1,352 housing units would be constructed in East Jerusalem settlements.

The Foreign Secretary said:

“The latest announcement of plans for construction of further settlements in East Jerusalem is extremely disappointing and unhelpful. As I made clear during my recent visit to Israel and the Occupied Territories settlements are an obstacle to peace. Their construction should stop.”
