Introduction of electronic consent to criminal injury compensation claims

How you will provide your consent to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority from 21 November 2016

From 21 November 2016, when applying for criminal injuries compensation via our online application process, an applicant or their representative will provide their consent electronically by reviewing an onscreen declaration, typing their name and ticking a box to say that they agree with the terms of the declaration.

When making a telephone application the applicant or their representative will be asked to verbally agree to a statement that will be read to them before it is submitted.

This will offer the following benefits to victims of crime:

  • An easier and quicker process of applying for criminal injuries compensation
  • Greater use of digital technologies which will help reduce the time between application and decision
