Guru Nanak Gurpurab 2014: David Cameron's message

The Prime Minister sends his best wishes to all those in the UK and across the world celebrating Guru Nanak Gurpurab.

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP

David Cameron said:

I send my warmest greetings to Sikhs in the UK and around the world celebrating Guru Nanak Gurpurab – the birth of Guru Nanak Dev, founder of the Sikh faith.

I think anyone, whether they are a Sikh or non-Sikh, can celebrate and embrace the teachings of Guru Nanak. The values of sharing with others, of making an honest living, and living a happy life are as worthy today as when he first espoused them all those years ago.

At this important time of year for the Sikh faith, I would like to again express my enormous gratitude to British Sikhs for the outstanding, positive and historic contribution they have made, and continue to make, to our country.

To everyone observing Guru Nanak Gurpurab I send you my best wishes.
