Foreign Secretary's Passover message

Foreign Secretary William Hague sends best wishes for Passover to the Jewish community in Britain and across the world.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

He said:

“I am delighted to send my best wishes to the Jewish community in Britain and around the world as celebrations for the festival of Pesach begin. This is a joyous time for Jews around the world as they come together to celebrate liberty and freedom.

Passover marks the Children of Israel’s release from slavery and the start of their journey to the Promised Land. The sad events of the last few weeks, including the rocket attacks from Gaza and the bomb in Jerusalem, have shown that the search for peace and for freedom from fear is not yet over. So I join with Jews the world over in hoping that the coming year will finally bring about lasting peace, and that it will ensure that Israel is finally, truly secure and at peace.

I wish you and your family a Hag Hirut Sameach.”
