Foreign Secretary visits Jordan

Foreign Secretary William Hague was in Amman for a brief visit as part of a regional tour of the Middle East and North Africa

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Foreign Secretary met with His Majesty King Abdullah II and discussed developments in the region, including events in Egypt and Tunisia, and the urgent need for progress on the Middle East Peace Process.

He also discussed ways to further strengthen the two countries’ excellent bilateral relations, including how the UK can help support Jordan’s efforts for political and economic development.

This is the Foreign Secretary’s first visit to Jordan since the formation of the Coalition Government in the UK.
