The Foreign Secretary meets Elders, Martti Ahtisaari and Mary Robinson.

The Foreign Secretary William Hague met today with Martti Ahtisaari, former President of Finland and Nobel Peace Laureate, and Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Martti Ahtisaari and Mary Robinson are both members of the Elders, an independent group of eminent global leaders, brought together by Nelson Mandela. Using their considerable influence and experience, the Elders aim to support peace building, help address major causes of human suffering and promote the shared interests of humanity.

The meeting covered a range of foreign policy issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
