Commenting on rocket attacks by Palestinian militant groups on Israel and Israeli air-strikes on Gaza, Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt said:

“I was deeply concerned by the recent escalation of violence in southern Israel and Gaza, including the firing of over 80 rockets into Israel by militants in Gaza. The UK welcomes reports that a truce has been reached and calls on all sides to show restraint and prevent further such escalations in future. We urge all parties to prevent civilian casualties and loss of life.”
