This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Following heavy and ongoing rains, there is widespread flooding across Jakarta making many roads impassable. The international airport remains operational, but travel to and from the airport is severely disrupted and hotels are experiencing high rates of occupancy.

The Governor of Jakarta has placed the city at the highest level of flood alert and the flooding is likely to worsen over the coming days if rainfall continues.

The British Embassy is currently closed due to flooding. We advise all British nationals to monitor the media and local authorities and the Foreign Office travel advice for updates. We continue to provide emergency consular assistance, British nationals needing emergency assistance can call 0044 207 008 1500.
