The drainage system along the route near Poulton-le-Fylde between Skippool roundabout and Singleton junction is being completely overhauled with cleaning and repairs to reduce flooding. New footpaths are also being provided on both sides of the road.

Construction work will be taking place around the clock but during the day the route will remain open in both directions through narrowed lanes. Between 7pm and 6am each night temporary traffic lights will be in place with one of the carriageways closed. The work is due to be completed by Friday 18 December.

Highways England project manager Peter Gee said:

We’re working hard to ensure we minimise disruption for residents, pedestrians and road users by keeping the road fully open during the day, doing any noisy works before 11pm at night and keeping one of the footpaths open at all times.

No temporary traffic lights will be used before Blackpool’s annual illuminations event finishes on Sunday 8 November.
