Mechanics' strike causes flight cancellations at Finnish airports

A strike by Finnish aviation mechanics began on Monday 25 October. So far the industrial action has led to the cancellation of some twenty flights by airlines Finnair, Blue 1, and Finncomm. Foreign airlines remain unaffected. If the strike continues tomorrow, nearly half of all flights may have to be cancelled. If no settlement is reached, cancellations could become much more frequent, as aircraft are routinely serviced every two days.
