First Women’s Volleyball Tournament Promoting Awareness of the Dangers of Narcotics and Intoxicants held in Kabul

On 28th Sept 2011 the first women’s educational volleyball tournament – to promote awareness of the law against narcotics and intoxicating drinks among Afghanistan’s youth - held in Kabul.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Six women’s teams from different schools participated in the tournament over two days in the Malaly school playground. Afghan high officials from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the Ministry of Counter Narcotics, the Ministry of the Interior’s Counter Narcotics department, the Ministry of Information and Culture youth department, the Kabul municipality, the Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC), Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF), as well as private companies interested in youth activities, also attended the tournament.

Ahmad Khalid “Mowahid,” spokesman and director of communications at the Criminal Justice Task Force, said that the aim of the tournament is to encourage enthusiasm for sports amongst Afghanistan’s young people and to increase awareness of the law against narcotics and intoxicating drinks.

The tournament was kindly sponsored by the Counter Narcotics Criminal Justice Task Force.
