FCO warns of threat to Westerners in Somaliland
FCO Travel Advice urges British nationals to leave Somaliland in response to specific threat to Westerners
Foreign Office Travel Advice already advises against all travel to Somalia, including Somaliland, and advises all British nationals to leave. We are now aware of a specific threat to Westerners in Somaliland, and urge any British nationals who remain there against our advice to leave immediately. As our travel advice continues to make clear, kidnapping for financial or political gain, motivated by criminality or terrorism, remains a threat throughout Somalia. We will keep our Travel Advice under constant review. We cannot comment further on the nature of the threats at this time.
