Seizure of Greek vessels: FCDO statement
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) gave a statement on the seizure of 2 Greek vessels by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on 27 May.
An FCDO spokesperson said:
We strongly condemn the seizing of two Greek vessels on the 27 May in the Gulf by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Iran’s actions pose a significant threat to the safety and security of shipping and violate the fundamental principles of freedom of navigation. We call on Iran to immediately free the crew and the two vessels.
