Passports and visas

  • you don’t need a visa to travel to Denmark, but your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay in Denmark; make sure next of kin details are up to date
  • remember to get your free European Health Insurance Card EHIC before leaving the UK; the EHIC isn’t a substitute for medical and travel insurance, but it entitles you to state provided medical treatment that may become necessary during your trip
  • if you lose your passport you’ll need to apply in person for an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) at the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Copenhagen; the fee for an ETD is £95 (approx DKK 1053) payable by cash (DKK only) or Visa/MasterCard Credit Cards; as part of your ETD application, you’ll need to submit one passport photo in colour, a paper copy of your flight details and potentially some other supplementary documentation

Getting to the stadium

  • Map of MCH Stadium
  • from Herning Station: Herning Station is around 3.4km from the MCH stadium; on match day you can also take a train from Herning station to Messecenter station, which is a shorter 10-15 minute walk to the MCH stadium
  • taxis are available but expensive; use public transport instead
  • to plan your public transport route, especially when coming from another city in Denmark, consider the following website, which is available in English
  • Southampton FC has also confirmed that there will be shuttle buses pre and post game from the central bus station

At the match

  • access to the stadium can be slow - there may be ticket checks and body searches at the entrance to the turnstile; to avoid any last minute delays, get to the stadium in good time
  • away fans seating is situated in the south-west corner of the stadium which is accessible from entrance/’indgang’ 1; it’s marked on the above seating plan as “Udehold” which literally translates as “away team”

  • as in any other city beware of pickpockets and bag snatchers at airports, railway stations, around the town centre and when using public transport - only carry what you need and consider leaving spare cash and valuables in hotel safety deposits if possible
  • don’t get involved with drugs - the penalties can be severe; drugs and drink driving laws are strict in Denmark; possession of even small quantities of narcotics can lead to heavy fines and/or imprisonment
