The A160 Humber Road between Habrough Road roundabout and Eastfield Road will close overnight as part of a major project to improve access to one of the UK’s busiest ports.

Contractors for Highways England need to close the A160 eastbound carriageway between 8pm on Saturday 12 September and 10am on Sunday 13 September for drainage work. And the A160 westbound carriageway will be closed from 8pm on Thursday 17 September until 6am on Friday 18 September for piling work.

Drivers will be able to follow clearly signed diversion routes along the A1173.

The £88.4 million project began in March and aims to provide better access to the port and the surrounding area, stimulating growth and unlocking economic benefits. It is due to be completed in summer 2016.

The Port of Immingham is the UK’s largest port by tonnage and handles up to 55 million tonnes of goods every year, including nearly 20 million tonnes of oil and 10 million tonnes of coal.

More details on the scheme, including a computer-generated video showing how the upgraded road will look, are available on the scheme page.
